Walnut Tree leather is a small family firm based in North Buckinghamshire that was born out of a strong desire to learn and master an age-old craft that would allow me to use my hands and creativity. I wanted to have a tangible skill that I could learn and from this share a final creation that would last a lifetime.
It all started when I bought an expensive genuine leather wallet from a large well-known department store here in the UK. Within a few weeks, the stitching started to come undone on one side. What I found surprised and honestly annoyed me. Inside the wallet between the leather and the lining was several layers of an Indian newspaper.
Having always been a practical person who likes working with my hands I tried my hand at leatherwork and tried to create my own. The first one I will be honest wasn’t very good but I was hooked. I loved working with leather and there were so many possibilities to create new items. I progressed to making more and more complicated items. Being a perfectionist at heart it took about several years until I actually had a product I was happy with.
It was at this point that Walnut Tree Leather was born. I started the company with a view to lovingly create, by hand, traditional leather goods with timeless style and appeal.
Some products are kept in stock but most items are made to order especially for you and once you have placed an order the production will start. Unless stated otherwise, please allow 2-3 weeks for creation and shipping. We often attend the local craft fairs and markets in North Buckinghamshire so if you are free and can pop over then let us know and it would be great to meet you there!
