Note: The ‘raw’ leather option is completely unsealed leather and as such this will pick up any mark very easily. It is perfect if you wish to use your own top coat or finish. If you want a more traditional look but still maintaining practicality then the ‘Natural’ finish may be a better option due to being sealed with natural oils and beeswax.
We only use environmentally friendly vegetable tanned leather, something that not only looks the part but will stand the test of time and only get better with age. These high-quality leathers develop a beautiful patina and maturity of colour, with all pieces uniquely ageing throughout their life depending on their amount and type of use, gaining their own character which is unique to both you and the item.
By using only the best quality top grain leather any scars, brands, scratches, veins and wrinkles have not been sanded down or buffed out which gives each piece in our collection its unique character. We specifically chose not to cover minor imperfections with paint sealers or artificial finishes, using only clear dyes in a range of colours that enhance rather than conceal the beautiful character of the leather.
All of our raw materials are sourced in the UK. Please see our Materials page for further information.
There is a significant time investment in making handmade leather goods as each item is hand cut, dyed, saddle stitched and then finished with the utmost of care.
Saddle-stitched products last a lifetime for a reason. They are much stronger, but they are much slower to achieve than a machine stitch as each stitching hole is meticulously punched with a sharp awl and stitched with two needles and waxed thread. Saddle stitching cannot be achieved with a machine so can only be done by hand and each time the threads pass through the leather they are knotted and therefore can’t unravel, unlike a machine stitch.
All edges are sanded, burnished with natural beeswax and the products are finished with the highest quality hide food and finally packaged ready for shipping.
Please see our Craftsmanship page for further information.
The results of this significant time investment are products that should last for generations. Handmade products may initially seem expensive but when you own one and find that it only develops and improves with age the cost becomes immaterial and it is actually an investment in the future.
This intrinsic quality is why we guarantee our products against defects in materials and workmanship for life. For full details please see our Warranty page.
Each product is handmade to order and will be made and dispatched within 2 weeks of placing your order but can be much sooner. Please do read our Shipping/Returns page for more dispatch/delivery information before ordering.
