Handcrafted Heritage Quality – ‘Wearing in’ instead of ‘wearing out’.
This handmade heritage quality key name tag will wear in, instead of wearing out. It will develop the most beautifully rich patina and become more refined with each day of use. We lovingly create and hand make each and every item in the UK and only use the best quality UK sourced materials. We only use full-grain, environmentally-friendly vegetable-tanned leather and brass split rings.
We like every other artisan maker the world over craft items with care and passion and each item has its own unique story to tell. To ensure the highest quality we keep a very short supply chain from the raw materials to the finished item. This is very important to us and it makes sure that we only source the best materials. Which in turn allows us to create the best possible product for you. We also only use fully sustainable materials in every product we create. Our ‘Heirloom guarantee’ is proof as to how much we truly believe this. This simply means that if anything ever goes wrong, we will, at your request, repair or replace without any quibble or hesitation.
It’s about something much greater than just us…
It is our belief that a few very important changes have occurred in our society.
Throw away society
Firstly we have become, over the course of the last few generations, a throw-away society. Each day as the world becomes smaller we’re starting to see the direct effects of what, and how we buy. We as consumers have wanted better quality but at ever-cheaper prices. We’re now starting to see the effects and realising that cheaper isn’t actually better, for neither us nor our world. Many items, for example, are designed to be simply thrown out after their first, and often only use.
We strongly believe that the answer to more sustainable living is that we each do our part no matter how small. We could (but we won’t) create products that last a year or two at best with the view that some customer would come back to buy again. This is right for a business but in our view wrong for us and the world we live in. We design and produce all of our products with longevity in mind. We want you to come back because you still love the item you bought several years ago and you now want something else.
Secondly, people are changing their view of the products that they buy and how they are made. An appreciation and understanding of provenance are rightly becoming more important to us as consumers. We are increasingly wanting to know that the things we buy are created in the ‘right’ way. We could substantially reduce our costs if we had our products created in other countries. This is not how we want to work. We want to do things the right way: Pay fair, play fair and keep the skills alive for future generations.
Handmade certainly isn’t the cheapest or fastest way to create things, but in our view, it is the right way to do it, for all of us.
